A New Leaf

There have been many experiences lately that have changed my outlook on life. By now, most people know my job has been a great challenge for me. Looking back over the long eight months, I realize the lessons were hard, but invaluable. One of the lessons I learned was to take time for yourself every now and then. According to Covey's principles, it is sharpening the saw. This lesson was most recently learned. I moved into another house where I actually live with friends and not just co-habitate with a few other girls. Another thing, I slept in later than I do during the weekend day last Saturday and felt so refreshed. I then went and got some things done on my "to do list" and realized most of them were things that I needed to do to take care of myself. For example, getting a hair cut, eye brows waxed etc. Jen and Ash both commented how much better I sounded compared to the recent past. They both said how I should do this on a more regular basis.
I have decided I want to start taking a pottery class. I want to learn to throw pots on a wheel. I think that would be so fun! We'll have to see what kind of deal I can find.

Good for you, hon! As always, you see the long term affects of challenges and you keep your chin up. What an example you are to me! Hang in there, you're nearly done and when it is, good riddance. You can do it, keep up the good work!!

I agree with Ang. When it's done, good riddance. In the meantime, keep your chin up and know being a teacher is what you do, not who you are. And no one can make you feel small without giving them permission to do so. You can always choose how you are to respond. [blah blah blah...it's easier said that done, even if it IS true!] May you find the strength to do that! And good luck looking for the job you were born to have, at a school that actualy knows how to support it's teachers and interact positively with them and the students. Top priority! Have you visited with Uncle Gary yet? He'll have great ideas in dealing with your current situation as well as how to make it all sound positive in a job interview. And document everything you've experienced and what challenges each student in your classroom has had. It will take some time but will be important. Not just for dealing with things now, but in a few years you'll be glad that have gone through all this and will want to remember the lessons well...[so you won't need to have any repeat performances!] You can do this! Keep up the good work!!

And I don't know if I am coming home for the seven week break...BUT...I love you tons and miss you lots! I hope that you continue to do great things for yourself because you deserve it! Keep smiling Aimz!
